Surname: BUGG

Thanks, did Mary Ruth also have a brother names Samuel? Who is Mary Francis Bugg? I found this on a Samuel Bugg from the VIRGINIA 1704 Rent Rolls Name Land held in: Bugg Samll Parish of St. Peters and St. Paul, 1704 Then I have from the will of a Samuel Bugg dated 24Dec1775 & recorded on 10Mar1777 in Mecklenburg Co., Va. Will Bk. #1 Page 220 shows his wife to be Martha and his children to have almost the same names as the Samuel Bugg that died in Lunenburg Co. in 1759. This will identifies one of this Samuel Bugg's children as Sarah Hix and Amos Hix is one of four executors mentioned among whom is also a Sherwood Bugg.

                                        Surname: Hicks

Family records show that Amos Hicks son of Nathaniel Hicks and Rebecca? was married to Mary Ruth Bugg daughter of Samuel E. Bugg and Sarah Bacon. Our records also show that Sherwood Hicks and Ann Gordon were married in Mecklenburg County, VA. Hope this helps.

H Mark My Mary Frances Bugg m. Amos Hix, probably in Mecklenburg. I had a date, but erased it as I thought it was infeasible, as at that time, I was told she was the daughter of Jacob Bugg and Margery Branch Goode. I know now, that's impossible, as Jacob Bugg and Margery Branch (Goode- widow of John Goode IV) didn't marry until after 1743, when Margrey (as spelled in court record) presented John Goode's will in 1743.

Mary Frances Bugg and Amos Hix had a number of children, including my Martha Hix b. abt 1755 d. ? married Dabney Philips abt 1772 Mecklenburg Co VA. Thier son, Dabney Phillips Jr b. 9 Aug 1780 Mecklenburg Co VA d. bef 1816 Mecklenburg. m. Martha Hutcheson abt 6 Jan 1801 (bond date) Mecklenburg. Martha b. 10 Mar 1782 d. 1843, married 2nd Joseph Simmons4 May 1816 Mecklenburg Co VA. She was the d/o Charles c. Hutcheson m. Frances Collier.

the eighth of nine known children, Jane Elizabeth Phllips b. 12 Aug 1812 Mecklenburg Co d. ? m. 12 Aug 1830 in Mecklenburg Co VA, Edward Archibald Craddock. They had at least 7 living children, including my Minerva Jane Craddock, b 11 Feb 1836 Lunenburg Co VA d. 29 Aug 1908 Lynchburg Co VA , buried in New Bethel Meth. Church, Grit, Pittsylvania Co VA.

Minerva Jane Craddock married 10 Jan 1854 Montgomery Co VA to charles Anderson Williams. They were the parents of 11 living children; including my Willie Craddock Williams b. 9 Aug 1864 Botetourt co VA d. 12 Dec 1920 Lynchburg Co VA, buried Springhill Cem. Lynchburg VA. Willie Craddock Williams m. Daniel D. Moon 13 Oct 1886 Hill Grove, Pittsylvania Co VA.

Daniel and Willie were the parents of only 5 children before his death in 1896. Their middle daughter, Nona Roberta Moon b. 13 Oct 1886 Hill Grove, Pittsylvania Co VA d. 4 Mar 1975 Columbus OH. married Patrich H. Jackson in 1905 Person Co NC (eloped). They had 9 living children, although one died in infancy. Some of them are still living and remain private.

These were my great grandparents.

I'd believe that Mary Frances is most likely the child of Samuel Bugg and Sarah BAcon. I remain unsure of who the parents of Sarah BAcon are. The only Sarah I find in St. peter's Parish Regsiter is Sarah, s/o John, s/o Edmund.

Mary Frances Bugg is, age wise, almost contemporary with the rest of Sameul's children. She may be by his brother or by Sameul. She is not named in Samuel's will, but only the living children are named. He had 14, but only about 5 or 6 are named in the will. Amos Hix witnessed his will, but is nt named in it, nore are his children, assuming that Mary Frances was dec'd. Samuel did name some grandchildren, but all are named Bugg, not Hix, which is a problem.

I'd like to find her parents. I'd also like to prove who the parents of Sarah BAcon really are? I can't find it online anywhere that I can veify it. I have St. Peter's Parish and a few other parish register's here, but no luck.

Thanks Karen
