OBITUARY

Mrs. Johanna Fredricka Schleifer was born in Baden, Germany, April 15, 1840; died april 8, 1909 at 5:40 P.M. she was the wife of Philip Schleifer who died March 26, 1888, mother of eleven children of which ten are living - five girls and five boys - all being married but one. There are 25 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was a member of the Lutheran church.

The subject of our sketch was one of the most highly respected citizens of our county, well known and respected by all who knew her. Here illness was of comparatively short duration but she was patient in her suffering and when asked in regard to dying if she was afraid, answered firmly and unfalteringly, "no". She was as before stated a member of the Luteran Church and a firm believer in the doctrines of faith and practices adhered to by the Lutherans and always tried to exemplify that beautiful and admirable character of Lutheranism, respecting the rights of others.
Funeral services were preached at the home before a large concourse of friends and neighbors who gathered to show respect to the memory of one they had learned to love. After services the remains were interred in the Slagle cemetary by the side of her husband, who died some years previous.
The bereaved family has sympathy of the entire community in their sad loss of a dear and precious mother. But remember dear children, that while mother cannot come back, some day you may meet again where sorrow and parting never come and that while you did all that could be done for her comfort and relief and laid here to rest with tear dimmed eyes and sorrowing hearts, you must look to the future and prepare to meet again.
