Moved from Frankfurt, Ky when son John was 10-12 years old. Died in 1890's.

Source: Ethel Morgan Doyle. Died about 1917. Served in the Union Army during Civil War. Jane Rutledge (Rutherford) Morgan's family was from Tennessee and was alligned with the south. She did not know that her future husband had served as a Union soldier until she had already fallen in love with him. Statements by Ethel give his middle name as “Washington”.

Notes for GEORGE W. MORGAN: George W. Morgan joined the Union Army at Irvine, Ky. Estill CountyKy. on October 16, 1861 and served as a Private in Co. D, I Batt'n Ky. Calvary. He served under Capt. Mundy. at Crab OrcharckKy. By an order of the War Dept. Adjutant General's Office Washington D. C. under Special order # 407 he was discharged honorably as a private to accept a commission of Ist. Lt. by order of the Secretary. of War. The Date was December 22, 1862 and the promotion was effective October 4, 1863. He was at camp Nelson, Ky. on December 29, 1863 in Co. H 47 Reg't Kentucky Inf.. He was 25 years old at this time. On one muster roll his horse was valued at one hundred dollars and the trapping were also valued at one hundred dollars. He applied to Capt. E. Bates Dickson at Lexington, Ky. for a 20 day leave dated November 10, 1864. He was mustered out on December 26, 1864.
